Echo Chamber

Clamp my perception, speak the sooth
No misconception, encrust the truth
Gather the same names we all know
Make the same proclaims we don't oppose
Behind the curtain, opinions
Under the carpet, we counterfeit
Outside the window, transgressions
The light from out there is hypocrite
Once you've found identity
Within unity
It's a fake clarity
Once you'll hear the final answer
You'll be sequestered
In your echo chamber
Pleasantly confined, we wonder
Are the monsters gone, we take shelter
Your thoughts, your tongue, your words, are sharp
The light of our truth will provide a vision through our bias and warp
Unfamiliar voices losing temper
Interlopers whose eyes I see as blacked out
Speak no evil, see no evil, hear no evil, ever
You walk on a line I don't want to find
Hear me, see me, find me, cry
No voice, no fear, no qualm, sight
Once you've found identity
Within unity
It's a fake clarity
Once you'll hear the final answer
You'll be sequestered
In your echo chamber
Once you've found identity
Within unity
It's a fake clarity
Once you'll hear the final answer
You'll be sequestered
In your echo chamber

Random Desire

He used to work at this small design studio downtown,
It was called The Drill™,
And he used to wake up at 6 in the morning, in order to get there at least 1 hour in advance.
He hated having to interrupt his drawings when the evening came,
And the very next day, he used to immediately get to work where he left off.
He used to be very passionnate about his work, and it was never a chore for him.
A bird escaped the coolness of fall
As it was what it needed to fear
But fall ended earlier this year
And the bird got used to the cold
A school of fish was told to beware
For the whales were coming for them
But when they came, they passed their way
And the fishes were now aware
Like all of his colleagues at that time, who also happened to be his friends,
He got excited when they got to seal that deal.
It was a big contract for some random company,
That just had to say words like "success" and "recognition",
In order to get him and his friends in their bag.
He used to love working for them,
Because it gave him the sensation that his art was actually meaningful.
But then they began to get into the processes, and they began to change the objectives.
They asked the common folk to pay attention to what was happening,
And he forced himself to believe that this was the way it was meant to be,
That this was what he always wanted.
A bird escaped the coolness of fall
As it was what it needed to fear
But fall ended earlier this year
And the bird got used to the cold
A school of fish was told to beware
For the whales were coming for them
But when they came, they passed their way
And the fishes were now aware
In the end, nobody even knew what the Drill was,
And for those who did, they didn't remember what it used to be
Whatever that came out of it however was still appreciated
Because they were told to like it, and they were told to want it.
Everything was made and set up so that the people would have the means and the will to consume it
But even though "recognition" and "success" is what he achieved, he still wasn't fulfilled
And whenever his work was featured in some movie, or videogame, or whatever,
The people would instantly make the connection (because they were told to do so)
And he hated that, with all his being
He didn't want to believe it, and went from mad, to frustrated, to sad
But never made it to the end
A bird escaped the coolness of fall
As it was what it needed to fear
But fall ended earlier this year
And the bird got used to the cold
A school of fish was told to beware
For the whales were coming for them
But when they came, they passed their way
And the fishes were now aware
(This is your desire, this is your heart)

The Only Design

Now
If you ever again pass our way
Then you'd better not try to stay
We are of those who will make you sway
The ones who'll never be the prey
If we got it all so easily
It must be because we are esteemed
It's the only design that's been weaned
Disdain to all with no decency
All our deeds are part of our aims
Our bodies have been kissed for our names
Last. We are golden, we are blessed
We are distinguished from the rest
Now
If you ever again pass our way
Then you'd better not try to stay
We are of those who will make you sway
The ones who'll never be the prey
If we got it all so easily
It must be because we are esteemed
It's the only design that's been weaned
Disdain to all with no decency
Slaves to a smaller wheel, you are
Weave silk we can harvest, you must
Greater purpose is placed on us
How can you believe we're on par
You do not seem so wise
Next to what we express
There's no tears in your eyes
Can you feel nonetheless
You have no volition
Follow primary rules
Transparent are your souls
Vacant your ambition
We, swimmers of the land
Our actions are offhand
We, walkers of the sea
Destroying history
Can one have so much pride
Yet on this Earth so small
We'd rather wear blindfolds
Than walking by your side
We'd have to lose our wits before we recognize
Now
If you ever again pass my way
Then you'd better not try to stay
I'm one of those who'll make you sway
The ones who'll never be the prey
If we got it all so easily
It must be because we are esteemed
It's the only design that's been weaned
Disdain to all with no decency
Destruction we bring to ourselves

[I. Awoken]
Awoken in the haze
Still looking for a light
That no one seems to find
Or no one seems to care
Surely you thought this through
Before you got so small
I see nothing in you
But are you there at all?
Why does it look like you do not hear what I say?
I swear I saw you then, trying to find your way
It's like you lost all the fire that was burning inside
But somehow the spark still remains
I'm still the one who makes things up, still the one who builds it all
Yet every teeny tiny little piece of you is still shouting -
- nonsense
And I hear no longer
I wish my mind wasn't blooming this much
But don't take it away from me
Show me
A single thread of thoughts
Something that proves you're alive and breathing
And don't take it away from me
[II. Keep on searching]
Here I stand waiting for the time
Wondering if it rains
I tried to show you, your deeds are in chains
You did not gave me back the signs
The face of my awareness is wearing a mask
The mask you forgot existed
But if I was to take it off, would you be up to the task
Or would I become, like you, blank and rusted?
I will keep on searching
Till truth is at its apogee
Figuring as days fly, facing everything
At the end of the road you will see
Senses
They help me understand my way
Unveiling deceptions, recognizing fences
At the end of the road you'll decay
Limbo is a state of mind
It's not meant to be seen
I've never met anyone in this vacuum of heed
I'm not ready to be unconfined
Endless escalator
All the way up to hell
A transparent cage from a fictional dictator
Trying to break you to no avail
I will keep on searching
Till truth is at its apogee
Figuring as days fly, facing everything
At the end of the road you will see
Senses
They help me understand my way
Unveiling deceptions, recognizing fences
At the end of the road you'll decay
[III. Rampage]
Mindless conundrum
Wrapped in nothingness
Living redundant
Absent willingness
Embodied abyss
Hypnotized by bliss
Break free of your cage
Speak up and rampage
[IV. One of many]
Will I ever find my way
Out of the ocean of my mind
With not a single soul to find
For miles and miles away
I've always known the theory
But I'm still my worst adviser
Should I give you a lecture
Or should I get down on my knee
You offer me your hand
I look into your words
They're deeper than I judged
I start to understand
When I look in your eyes it seems you hear what I say
I knew I saw you then, trying to find your way
In fact you never lost the fire that was burning inside
If anything the spark still remains
I'm not the one who makes things up, I'm not the one who builds it all
My eyes were shut but now I see that I'm in fact one of many
We all think about the things we know
And we think about the things we said
But we never see each other's souls
Nor we ever see each other's heads
So next time you think about our world
Never should you forget that we are whole
Even if it seems your thoughts are alone
Remember, remember that alive we are all
So next time you try to see too quick
Consider all that we have been through
And all this time what we just had to do
Was getting up from our chair, walk up to each other, and speak

Jeyem Nancy, France
My name is Julien Marchetti, abbreviated into Jeyem. I am a vocalist and multi instrumentalist from Nancy, France. I started
writing music in 2011 for my former band, Left Alone, and debuted a solo career in 2019.
I come from a mostly rock and metal background, and I would say that the songs I write are a mix of progressive and avant-garde music, sometimes borrowing elements from jazz and blues.
